I know it’s all supposed to be one character, but when I first read it I thought the guy in the first panel was all “LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THAT THING I LIKE” and Poker Face is like “I’m so fucked.”
This may say more about me than the comic.
i read it that way too. though putting the face in panel one off to the left side and looking to the right, while the last panel has the guy on the right-hand side looking over to the left, doesn’t really help dispel the idea that these are two separate characters having a conversation.
i think my favourite thing about coming out to a community of people is how after initial showings of support they continue to talk about sex and romantic love as universal elements of the human condition and how anyone with an unusual relationship to these concepts is emotionally damaged or just WRONG in some fundamental way.
at times like this when i really need to talk to someone i wonder if it’s fucked up that i’m so hesitant to seek emotional support from some of the people i consider friends, but then i look at the things they say about people like me and i just think, fuck it, why should i open up to these people?
My favorite feminist website linked to a “really moving” post where someone defends oppression olympics because they’ve been a victim of hate crimes, so they have “little patience” with anyone talking about anything less than violence. Microaggressions? Not worth discussing, according to them….
